Marcia Celjar is a Brazilian street photographer based in Rio de Janeiro whose work explores the quiet poetry of everyday life. Drawn to spontaneous gestures, layered scenes, and the subtle relationships between people, light, and space, she creates candid photographs that reveal the extraordinary within ordinary moments. Rather than documenting places, her photography seeks to capture atmosphere, emotion, and the fleeting connections that unfold naturally in the streets. Whether working in Brazil or abroad, she is guided by curiosity, patience, and a deep appreciation for authentic human presence. Since 2017, her work has been exhibited and recognized in international festivals, exhibitions, and awards in Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, Italy, Jordan, and France, including the Paris Street Photo Awards, Lisbon Street Photo Fest, and Rome Photo Lab. She also collaborates with international street photography communities, curates online features, and leads photo walks encouraging photographers to slow down, observe more deeply, and develop their own visual voice.

* Duration: Approximately 6 hours. * Start time: Before sunrise, with the exact meeting time adjusted according to the season to make the most of the beautiful early morning light. * Transportation: Transportation by car is included throughout the entire experience. * Pickup: Complimentary pickup and drop-off are available for guests staying in Rio’s South Zone or Barra da Tijuca. If you’re staying elsewhere, we’ll meet at a convenient location in Copacabana before sunrise. * Experience: A private and personalized street photography experience, tailored to the light, weather conditions, and your photographic interests. * Drop-off: At the end of the experience, I’ll take you back to your accommodation (within the pickup area) or to our original meeting point. * Designed for photographers of all levels, from enthusiastic beginners to experienced street photographers looking to discover Rio through a local’s perspective.

Street Photography Experience in Rio

I booked a photo walk with Marcia, and I couldn’t have been happier with my choice. I’ve been a street photographer for many years and have photographed in quite a few countries that I know well. But I have to admit that, before coming to Rio, I felt a little apprehensive because of everything you hear about safety. From the very beginning, Marcia made me feel completely at ease. Not only did I feel safe walking around with her, but she took me to places I would never have dared to explore on my own. She also helped me interact with Cariocas, which made the experience much more spontaneous and authentic. What I particularly appreciated was that Marcia didn’t simply show me around. She shared her experience as a photographer and gave me both technical and artistic advice about the images I could make. It was incredibly enriching. Even though I have a lot of experience in street photography myself, I think it’s always valuable to step outside your comfort zone and see things differently. Thanks to Marcia, I was able to move away from my usual way of photographing and experiment with a different approach. I’m very grateful to her for this wonderful experience and would warmly recommend her to anyone who wants to discover Rio through photography — whether you are an experienced photographer or simply someone who wants to see the city from a different perspective.

Street Photography Experience in Rio

A wonderful experience! We went on an inspiring photo walk with Marcia. We started very early in the morning and she took us to some sensational spots along Rio’s city beaches that exude a unique sunrise atmosphere. Marcia showed us lots of beautiful, authentic corners of Rio de Janeiro and knew exactly when and where the light would be at its best. Her open, positive personality made us feel right at home straight away. A brilliant street photographer with a real passion for her work – highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience Rio through the lens.
