We discuss anticipation, visual rhythm, layering, gesture, and the decisive moment—learning not only how to recognize meaningful scenes, but how to position yourself and respond instinctively when they unfold. *** My teaching approach is rooted in storytelling. I believe compelling street photography goes beyond technical perfection or composition alone. It is about perception—recognizing subtle human connections, discovering beauty in ordinary moments, and creating photographs that invite viewers to pause, look again, and find their own stories within the frame.

Murat Harmanlıklı is an Istanbul-based street photographer whose work explores the subtle relationships between people, light, and urban life. His photography is driven by observation, patience, and an instinct for finding extraordinary moments within everyday life. Working primarily in the streets of Istanbul, he creates poetic visual narratives that balance humor, emotion, and ambiguity while reflecting the city's ever-changing rhythm. His photographs often reveal unexpected connections, fleeting gestures, layers of meaning that emerge from ordinary scenes. Rather than documenting the city, he seeks to capture its atmosphere, inviting viewers to slow down and rediscover the poetry hidden in everyday life.
